Duck! and Gather

Ms. Palin as VPILF

Posted by: duckandgather on: September 1, 2008

With Obama screwing up since June, and with the stunning announcement of Sarah Palin as McCain’s running mate, you can tell my reaction was horror. The last couple of days, I’ve been thinking: Could Obama screw up so badly that turnout in November is low, allowing the Republicans to steal a few states and sneak out yet another election, giving us a better than 50% chance of “President Palin” by 2010?  The horror!

With this disturbing question in mind, many thoughts have bubbled up. I’ve already addressed how the Republicans have succeeded in the past with morons as candidates, and I’ve also looked at the different flavors of corruption. I was going to blog next on the notion that Sarah Palin would do to affirmative action exactly what Obama is doing. That is, each is, in a completely different way, obliterating affirmative action.

The idea is that, even with his post-June swoon, Obama is so stellar a political candidate that he has obliterated any need to grant special favors due to race. I mean that guy is so far superior to any American political candidate over the past 40+ years that the very idea of affirmative action seems nutty.

Palin leads to the same conclusion, but from the opposite direction. She is so incompetent that she embodies in a single person the true horrors of affirmative action over these past 40 years — horrors for the favored class, and horrors for the disfavored class. I mean, when we promote an incompetent person simply because they fit some demographic, we insult that whole demographic (ie. is this best we could find?), and at the same time we insult the disfavored class (ie. we all know you’re better, but tough luck, eh?).

Oh well, looks like I blogged this idea already.

Anyway, let me get onto the idea of this post. Namely, the idea is this: Palin is just frigging funny. Get on YouTube, and do a search on “sarah palin”.

At 7:30 pm Pacific Time on September 1, a good number of the videos on the first two pages of results are humorous ones, making fun of Palin. I suddenly realize that this is how McCain/Palin is going to wind up. What Larry Craig started in a Minneapolis bathroom last year, Sarah Palin is going to finish on the campaign trail this Fall.

Obama will keep people like me in his campaign from saying anything at all about Palin. Gag order. He will let her make a fool of herself, which is exactly what she is. And these next two months of laughter will be a perfect epitaph of the last 28 years of Republican rule in America.

As of right now, the video at the top of this post is the most viewed funny YouTube video on Palin. Enjoy.
